Bjørn Marius Hegge

Bjørn Marius Hegge born 11.09.1987 is a jazz bassist and composer born in a small village called ELvran in the rural area outside of Trondheim Norway.
He is now living in Trondheim, working as a freelance bass player and composer.
Bjørn Marius has a bachelor's degree in music from the jazz department at the Norwegian university of science (NTNU). Here he studied under mentors Eirik Hegdal, Michael Duch and Erling Aksdal among others. As a member of the audience you can listen to him working with a lot of different groups often larger ensembles, and his playing and writing consists of expanding boundaries of genres and other musical conventions. He favour writing particularly for the musicians involved, composing music tailor suited for each individual project.
In 2016 he formed the quintet Hegge, this group is made up by some of the finest Scandinavian jazz muscians around, Jonas Kullhammar, Martin Myhre Olsen, Vigleik Storaas and Håkon Mjåset Johansen, together they explore Bjørn Marius compositions with curiosity and openness.
Bjørn Marius has been playing concerts all over Europe and has toured Norway several times with both own and others projects. He compliments in a variety of groups, underneath is a list of selected collaborations:
